The varsity boys baseball team has had a strong and memorable season this year. With hard work, team work, and good coaching, the players have continued to improve and grow both on and off the field.
Coach Smith said that this season has been really enjoyable for him. He said the team works hard and makes coaching fun. One of his favorite memories was beating John Paul, which was a big deal because the team hadn’t won against them in eight years. That game stood out because of how well the team played and how much effort they put into it. Coach Smith also said he wanted his players to learn more than just baseball. He wants them to grow in their faith and learn to love God and other people. On game days, the team usually has a pregame meeting around 3:30 or 4:00 before a 6:00 game, then they get dressed, hit, stretch, throw, and get ready to play.

Freshman Brody White has had a good season on varsity this year. He said he’s been playing better than last year and feels proud to be on the varsity team as a freshman. He likes having older teammates to look up to and learn from. Brody also said his coaches have helped him improve a lot by teaching him everything he needs to know. He explained that his relationship with his teammates is really strong and that he enjoys being around them.
Senior Jake Anderson has also had a solid season, especially with his pitching. He mentioned that even though his hitting hasn’t been the best this year, he is getting ready for the playoffs and working to improve. Jake is committed to Southeastern Community College where he plans to continue playing baseball for two more years and hopefully move on to a Division 1 school after that. He talked about how close the team is and how they support each other no matter what happens in a game. Jake also said his coaches have helped him stay motivated by encouraging him when he struggles and supporting him when he succeeds. He believes that his best baseball season was his junior year when we performed very well at the plate.
Overall, the Wayne Christian varsity baseball team has had a great season full of growth, teamwork, and big moments. The players and coaches have built strong relationships and continue to push each other to be better everyday.
