The Varsity Girls Soccer team is a group of hardworking and talented girls. We got the chance to interview a few players as well as their assistant coach on their experience playing soccer so far.
One of the assistant coaches, Mrs Ryan, has been coaching soccer at WCS for 5 years. The team has a winning streak of 6-0, and they have high expectations for the rest of the season. Mrs. Ryan’s favorite part of coaching for the team is being able to watch both of her daughters do what they love together. She hopes to continue coaching until her youngest daughter graduates from high school, but she doesn’t know if she will continue afterward. Her favorite game so far this season is their most recent game because they won the game in the last 30 seconds.
Then we got the chance to interview Kinsley Parks, a first-year student on the team. Kinsley started playing soccer at WCS and has played since she was 4 years old. She expects this season to be a rebuilding season for the team. They are undefeated so far, but the upcoming games are more challenging for them. Kinsley plans to play soccer throughout the rest of her high school career, and she doesn’t think she will continue after that. Her favorite game of the season so far was the game against Faith Christian because it was very competitive.
Lastly, we interviewed AnaLeigh Miranda about her experience on the WCS soccer team. AnaLeigh has been playing soccer since she was 5, and her favorite memory was when Kinsley threw a ball that hit AnaLeigh in the head in second grade. She expects the season to go pretty well because it has already been great. She hopes to continue her soccer career at Florida State University, or preferably anywhere in Florida. Her favorite game from this season was the Coastal Christian game because of how eventful it was.
