If you’re looking for a comedic, family-friendly film, this is the one for you.
Judy and Nick team up to solve a dangerous mystery involving a puzzling reptile who may be the prime suspect for the police case. But, they ended up finding out there’s more to this story after all. This is Disney Animation’s biggest film ever, featuring scenes with 50,000 animals.
We thought this movie was very entertaining, though it moved more quickly than the first. Although there were nine years between the creation of this and the first film, viewers feel that there was little to no character development. Though the movie has some areas for improvement, it was still a heartwarming film to watch. We loved the humor and “buddy cop” chemistry as well as the thrilling theme of discovery and adventure. This movie resonates with many people, touching on social issues such as immigration and social minorities.
Some fun facts about this film are that it was nominated for an Oscar for best animated feature at the 98th Academy Awards and that it was the first movie to win that award. The film also won the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film. Zootopia also included easter eggs from Tangled and many other Disney references, including Ratatouille, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, Frozen, The Mandalorian, and many more.
The original was more of a coming-of-age story for Judy and an introduction to the characters, whereas the second one is more action-packed, with more mature themes.
Between the hilarious nods to classic Disney films and the thrilling, fast- paced investigation, Zootopia 2 is a must-see for all ages. Judy and Nick deliver another heartwarming story that reminds us why they are the ultimate duo. Grab your popcorn and prepare for the ultimate adventure, which is now streaming on Disney+!
