The Air Show is always a 10/10 experience. There were so many booths you could have gone to, there was so much food to choose from, and the main event was something you will never forget. The Air Show started off with a lot of older planes. They had planes from WWII, all different colored planes, fast planes, C-17’s, F-15’s, and many more. They also had cars that you could pay $200 to drive, and we are talking about fast cars, not your everyday Camry or Jeep.
As a military brat myself it brought tears to my eyes the way that the announcer would talk about having friends or family that were deployed, or are currently surviving. Everything was very entertaining, but the best part was The Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds would go up to, and more than 500 MPH. They did all sorts of tricks where they would fly only 18 inches away from each other and much more. If you were lucky, the pilots of The Thunderbirds would take a picture with you, and sign something for you.
Wings over Wayne, as the air show is called, is just something that you had to experience to understand the excitement, the pride, and overall joy that people had felt. Wings over Wayne happens every 2 years, so they will be coming back in 2027. If you didn’t make it this year, it is free to get into, and definitely something you should have on your bucket list. Also, tip from yours truly- don’t forget to put sunscreen on, and pack your walking shoes because there is a lot of walking and waiting for the buses to bring you from point A to point B.
