We all know and love the movie Frozen, which for a lot of us, was our favorite movie as kids. But now, we get to see it live on stage performed and sung by our very own peers and students on the big stage, Paramount Theater.
Since this is such an exciting topic, we decided to interview one of the big stars of the show, Ava Silver, who will be starring as Elsa. When asked about the difficulty of her role, as well as what she was excited about the most, she responded with this:
“I’ve been taking voice lessons since I was four, but the hardest part is definitely going to be singing Let It Go. Especially after trying it out myself during practice. But I’m also really excited it’s a musical. I’ve never done one before and the last time the school did a musical was my freshman year, and I didn’t do theater at that time. I’m also excited about doing two nights, instead of just one like we did last year.”
As a final question, we asked her how she felt about this being her last role in WCS theater before she graduates.
“I’m excited because I loved Frozen as a kid and even had an Elsa doll, and it sang her songs. I feel like this role has just made it come full circle.”
Ava Silver gave us a lot of insight about the feeling of the stage, but what about the people working behind the stage and curtains? This brings us to one of the theater teachers, Jayden Trinidad. It does make you wonder what theater tech truly does to help the well-being of the performance itself as well as their work, and that is exactly what we asked Jayden.
“I am doing the graphic design for the play and making all the backdrops for the play. I am very dedicated, and I have a pretty long time to do this, so I want it to look good.”
With insight into what theater tech does and works on as a whole, we now ask him something a little more personal. About why he joined theater tech in the first place.
“I joined theater tech so I can create graphics and backgrounds for the play. I also planned on working on sound design, but since they are doing Frozen, which already has a set soundtrack, I’m pretty limited.”
As this is a post about theater and interviewing the cast, we feel it is also important that we know who will be in the show in the first place.
