On June 13, 2025 one of the most anticipated films of the year came out. If you are looking for an adventurous and courageous movie, this is the one for you!
The movies explores the story of a young Viking boy named Hiccup living on the island of Berk. He meets a night furry dragon and challenges his tribes tradition by not killing the dragon but instead becomes friends with him. When he discovers he has no teeth he decides to give him the name toothless. When Toothless and Hiccup first meet he notices the Toothless can’t fly because of a broken fin. Hiccup decides to build him a prosthetic one. With the wing, Hiccup follows Toothless to a hidden cove where they build trust and friendship.
The live action really allows you to feel like you’re in the movie. With the amazing cinematography and the outstanding acting it feels like you’re experiencing it right with the characters. A lot of people are upset at the amount of live actions coming over the years. They think Disney is not really creating new ideas and that they are releasing these not for creative purposes but more financial gain.
However the live action removed one of the most important scenes for Astrid’s, character. Astrid and Hiccup become friends in the movie but at first they are rivals because of Hiccup’s success with training Toothless. Later after witnessing Toothless and Hiccup’s relationship they become friends. The scene when Astrid meets Toothless for the first time in the blacksmith shop is the scene that got removed .
The film had a diverse casting, and what I love so much is that they explained that the island of Berk is a home for the descendants of the best dragon hunters. Overall the film got a 4.7 review. I would rate it 5/5 because they followed the original story but also made some bold and different choices.
