Makayla Lilly – 11th Grade
“Art is something that is very special to me. Since I was little, I’ve always enjoyed art and just being creative. I remember when I was a little kid I used to love just going outside and trying to capture what was around me with paints. Making art would have to be my favorite hobby but drawing is my favorite medium out of all of them. Being able to draw things that you may see in your everyday life and capture it really makes me just appreciate the beauty of everything around you.”
“The Leopard’s Perspective” – Oil Pastel
“This is an oil pastel artwork named the Leopards Perspective that took about 2 hours to create. My love of animals inspired me to make this piece. This is very special to me because although I care about animals, not everyone does. Animals are treated so badly by humans and we endanger them everyday by leaving trash outside and not taking care of nature. My attempt at creating this piece was to draw attention to the beauty of these animals, in hope that we can take better care of nature to help them stay safe.”
“The Fiery Furnace” – Paint
“This is a painting named “The Fiery Furnace” that took about an hour and a half. This piece was inspired after the Bible story about the fiery furnace in Daniel 3:16-18. This passage is often forgotten or looked over but is really important to remember. In this story Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are cast into a fiery furnace but they see a fourth man. When they pull them out they come out without a single burn because that man was Jesus protecting them. This is meaningful and important to me because remembering this story helps me know that God is with me always and will protect me through everything.”
“The Parade” – Pencil
“This is a pencil drawing of the Macy’s day parade that took around two and a half hours. This piece is very meaningful to me because the Macy’s day parade is something me and my mom watch together every year and is one of my favorite things to do with her. I was inspired to try and capture the big colorful balloons that are taken down the streets in New York surrounded by tons of people but tried to make the balloon stand out. This was a very fun piece to create and would also have to be another one of my favorites. “
