Gaining speed during his last mile, Ethan Kramer rushed towards the finish line finishing with a new PR of 21:03. We interviewed Ethan Kramer, a freshman in cross country, and asked him a few questions about his session so far. On October 17th, 2024, the team went to Conference, which is the meet before States where Ethan gained his new all-time-best of 21:03. Ethan shared with us that he is working to achieve a PR below 20:00 or 19:50.
Before meets, Ethan tends to get hyped and prepared by listening to Zach Bryan. He likes to go wherever the team goes when eating before and after meets. We asked him what inspired him to start running cross country and he said, “My brother, Tanner, highly influenced me to start running.” He says he enjoys running and his favorite part is getting a new PR. We asked what his motivation for running is when he feels like giving up and he said, “Beating my brother and beating the quitting mindset. Running is mental, not physical.”
His dream place to run would be along a beach where he could hear the waves crash as he runs. His preferred weather for meets and practice is “Somewhere between 70-60 degrees, cloudy skies, and a slight breeze” His favorite place he’s run at so far was a meet in Wilmington, NC. He tends to run about an hour to an hour and a half a day. He plans on running next session as well as running track in the spring to stay in shape. Though he prefers short distances he’s enjoyed running long distances with the team this school year. He claims to “Always be locked in” and he keeps a clear head while running. Thank you Ethan for letting our team interview you!
