Ailee has had an excellent journey with Wayne Christian’s cross country team! On October 21, our journalism team interviewed sophomore Ailee Smith, who runs cross country for Wayne Christian. We asked Ailee what her favorite memory from this season was and she said, “My best memory is probably bonding with the team and spending time with them at practice and on the bus.” We also asked Ailee what her personal record was and she said “My PR is 24:53, but I would really like to hit 24:00 even by the end of the season.”
Aliee says, “I started cross country because I was encouraged by a friend and it was just something fun to do.” She says that she keeps running even when she feels like giving up because she loves the feeling she gets when she finishes the race. “It’s a really good feeling, I feel really accomplished.” She has been running cross country for two years and plans to continue running for Wayne Christian.
“My favorite Bible verse is Nehemiah 8:10, I think it really just shows that God is so good and really can just get you through anything.” She says that God has been her biggest motivation throughout the whole season. Thank you Ailee for your time!
