On October 18, I was able to interview Mally Baker and ask her about her art. When I asked what inspired her to create art, Mally said, “My dad doodled a lot, and I liked the pictures of cars he drew.” She also said that her brother liked anime and she thought that was really cool. I asked her how long she had been drawing and she told me she had been drawing since 6th grade, and she said “I’ve definitely improved.” I also wanted to know what advice she would give to someone who wanted to learn to draw and she responded, “Just keep trying. If you’re not born talented you can still get good. Anyone can draw really just get good.”
I then asked her what her favorite art style used by other artists was. “My favorite one is probably an anime chibi style.” I asked what material she likes to use most when she makes art. “My favorite is mechanical pencils, pens, and markers, preferably the alcohol markers.” Lastly, we asked what is her favorite thing to draw, and what style she uses when she draws it. ”I like to draw characters and animals. I really prefer to draw in an anime style, or a chibi style.”
